Best for multi-agent coding

Best tools for running several AI coding agents at once

One coding agent at a time is slow when you have five tasks. These tools let you run several agents in parallel, keep them from editing the same files, and see which one is waiting on you. Every tool here is described that way in its DreamBuilds listing.

5 tools. Ordered by how directly each listing matches this job, judged from its DreamBuilds description. This is an editorial order, not a benchmark or a test result.

  1. Harness by Autonomous

Open-source command center for coding agents. Run Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and more side by side, each on its own git worktree, across your Mac, Linux boxes and servers. The desktop app is free; agent plans are separate.

Runs the agents you already use (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and more) side by side, each on its own git worktree, on one computer or across several. Open source, and the desktop app is free.

  2. BAND

Desktop app and CLI for running several coding agents as one team. Agents like Claude Code and Codex share a chat room, context, and a repo, hand work to each other, and show you what is blocked. Free to start on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Puts several agents in one shared chat room with shared context and a repo, so they can hand work to each other and you can see what is blocked.

  3. Mirror CLI

Reflection's coding agent for the terminal, in early beta. It uses Reflection's open-weight Beam model by default and can run parallel agents in separate git worktrees.

A single terminal agent that can itself run parallel agents in separate git worktrees. Early beta.

  4. Devin Desktop

AI IDE and agent manager from Cognition. Formerly Windsurf.

Cognition's AI IDE (formerly Windsurf) with an agent manager for keeping track of more than one agent.

  5. Moyai

LiteLLM's open-source cloud coding agent that you host yourself. Give it a task in Slack or the browser, and it works in a cloud workspace and opens a pull request for review.

Self-hosted cloud agent: hand it tasks from Slack or the browser and each one runs in a cloud workspace and comes back as a pull request, while your own machine stays free.

FAQ

How do I run Claude Code and Codex at the same time?
Harness by Autonomous and BAND are both listed as apps that run Claude Code, Codex and other agents together. Harness gives each agent its own terminal and git worktree; BAND puts them in a shared chat room.
Why use git worktrees for parallel agents?
A worktree is a separate checkout of the same repo on its own branch, so two agents can change code at the same time without overwriting each other's files. Harness and Mirror CLI are both listed as using worktrees.
Do these tools include the AI models?
Harness and BAND run agents you already have, so agent plans and model usage are separate. Check each official site for current pricing.
